Water Practitioners Network (WPN) hosted a five day regional capacity building workshop on “the Concept and Application of Remote Sensing and GIS for the Natural Resource Management” for the West region of the country. The event was organized from 10thto 14th November, 2019 at CASA Resource Centre, Udaipur Rajasthan. The purpose of the event was to transfer the digital mapping skills to empower water practitioners as well as many other professionals working in the field of natural resource management. The course also attempted to introduce the participants with recent developments and features of digital mapping that could be incorporated in their area of work. This program was being conducted jointly by Society for Promotion of Wasteland Development (SPWD), Udaipur and Samaj Pragati Sahayog (SPS), Bagli. Three sources persons were also from these respective organizations. The underlying intent of the workshop, akin to what WPN espouses, was to get various practitioners together in the pursuit of skill building to address issues related to water and its interconnected elements. A total of (33) people participated in the training workshop including the resources persons.26 people from various other organizations/ institutes like, PRADAN, CASA, IIM, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Parmarth, and SRIJAN participated as trainees.
